DANE COUNTY PUBLIC LAND SURVEY MONUMENT RECORD
This record shall show the location of the corner and shall include all of the following nine elements (a
through j).
(a) CORNER LOCATION MARK CORNER LOCATION
SECTION NUMBER: 17
TOWNSHIP 05 NORTH, RANGE 10 EAST
17
0
DANE COUNTY COORDINATES
NORTHING: 417,905.22
EASTING: 833,129.11
HORIZONTAL DATUM &ADJUSTMENT: NAD 83(NSRS 2011) DANE COUNTY
ORTHOMETRIC HEIGHT: 912.81 VERTICAL DATUM: (NAVD 88)
(b) Describe any record evidence, monument evidence, occupational evidence, testimonial evidence or
any other material evidence you considered, and whether the monument was found or placed.
A Railroad Spike was found within the north shoulder of the of C.T.H. A just beyond the broken edge of the
pavement. The railroad spike appears to have been found by Dan Paulson in 2002 with CSM No. 10654 and
the origin of the railroad spike is not known. Other surveys in the area show the quarter section lines as
straight lines from the north-south and the east-west. The Railroad Spike falls approximately 0.39' North and
0.08' East of the intersection of the North-South and East-West quarter lines which is approximately 20 feet
east of the field occupation line to the south. The location of the Railroad Spike was accepted as it has been
used in surveys in the area and very near a split of the section. The Railroad Spike was replaced with a 3/4"
Iron Bar within the gravel shoulder in the existing location due to the existing stability of the Railroad Spike.
Three reference monuments were set and one existing iron found was used to tie to the corner.
(c) CORNER LOCATION SKETCH: In the sketch, provide reference ties to at least 4 witness monuments of
lasting durable material.
(d) The sketch shall include physical features surrounding the monument location sufficient to easliy find the
monument when in the general area, such as but not limited to utility poles, signs, trees, edge of forests or
cropland, field lanes, water bodies, pavement, buildings, etc. Sketch shall also indicate north and scale, and
include descriptions of symbols, in sketch or by legend. s.89°21'41"E. 51.5S
,OH OH \CF OCP-r OH
OVERHEAD ;/
■\ ( N.00°26'46"W.CUL N LINES r PIPEVERT \\,/v ' POLE r 23.89'
/ E FIELD N RACE SS2e48
' "O- \\V
` / PAVEMENT EDGE
W ir!E
C.T.H. _ _ - / i_____
-
/S / // PAVEMENT EDGE
/
0 15' 30' ti/ / // LI
h/ / 4/ o
cs,a°i/p^ p o
/ GRAVEL y/ ^ J
/ ENTRANCE // WOOD POST
AND PARKING WITH DNR
/ // BOUNDARY SIGN
/
/ ,-0
LEGEND
BOULDERS / i ///' I f
3/4"IRON REBAR-SECTION CORNER / -A % _ "W.
(FOUND RAILROAD SPIKE) // f/'L/ ,, S13°593
' FD.3/4"IRON BAR WITH CAP // , I
0 SET 1 1/4"IRON REBAR Lip / `FIIS NCA "
WITHPRIGHT BOULDER
PLAQUE
CORNER IDENTIFICATION NUMBER 40510172020
