f' TENTATNE ZONEIG ORDINANCE <br />-DAKE 'COUNTY, T-MCONSIN <br />Wisconsin State Planning Board <br />Julie 17, 1033 <br />A Zoning Ordinance enacted pursuant to the provisions of Sections 59.97 and <br />59.99 of the 'statutes and providing -penalties for the violation of its provisions. <br />The Board of Supervisors of Dane County does ordain, as follows: <br />SECTION Io DEFINITIONS <br />For the purposes of this ordinance; certain words and terms are defined as <br />follows: <br />Words used in the present tense include the future', words in the singular <br />number include the plural number and words in,the plural number include'the <br />singular number; the -Word "building" - includes the word "structure ", the word <br />It is mandatory and not;di- rectory, <br />Accessory Building: A supplemental building or portions of the main building, <br />the use of which is incidental to the main building. <br />Boarding house: A building other than a hotel where meals are sold, pursuant <br />to previous arrangement and not to anyone who may' apply, for five�(5) or more <br />persons not members of the'family. <br />Building: Anything constructed and designed to stand more or less permanently, <br />and occupying a space of _land. Whon a building is separated by divisions walls, <br />without openings, from the ground.up, each portion of such building shall be <br />deemed a separate building. <br />Buildings, ' Front of The side of a building. which faces toward the principal <br />road, street, hightimy of way serving the same. <br />Club: An association or group of persons organized for some common purpose <br />but not including such association or groups organized to render a service which <br />is customarily carried on as a. business. <br />District: A part or parts of Dano County for which the regulations relating <br />to the use of land and buildings are uniform. <br />Dwelling, Single Family: A detachod- building designed for and occupied ox- <br />elusively by one (1) family. <br />Dwelling, Mlult� plc Family: A building or portions thereof used or intended <br />to be used by two (2) or more families. <br />Family: Sevoral individuals living together and cooking on the promises as a <br />single housekeeping unit, together with all necessary employees of the family. <br />Garage, Public: A building or portion thereof used for the housing or care <br />of more than three (3) self-propelled vehicles or where any such vehicles are <br />equipped or ropai red for remuneration or kept for hire. <br />Home Occupation: A gainful occupation conducted by xiembors of the family <br />only, within its place of rosidoneo, provided that tho space used is incidental <br />to residential use and that no article is sold or offcrod for sale except such <br />as is 'produced by such home 'ocoupations. <br />Lodging House: ,A building ' othor than a hotel, where lodging only is-provided <br />for compensation pursuant to previous arrangement and not to anyone who may <br />%F apply fox five (5) or more persons not members of tho family. <br />Non - conforming Use: A building or premises occupied by a use that does not <br />conform to the regulation's• of the• district in vrhich it is loodtod. <br />Roadside Stand: A farm structure used or intended to be usod,sololy by the <br />ovmor or Conant of the farm on which it is located for the sale of only the <br />seasonal farm products of the imtaodia.to locality in which such roadside stand <br />is located. <br />Setback Lines: LiLos established adjacent to highways for the purpose of <br />defining limits within tiThich no building or structure or any part thoroof shall <br />be erected or permanontly Maintained.
