The overlay district <br />will help provide protection to preserve <br />this unique historic place. Future plans are <br />to turn this area into the Hauge Historic <br />Park. <br /> <br />Observations: The Hauge Church has <br />been in existence for 155 years and is <br />listed on the National Historic Registry. <br />The topography exceeds 120/0 slopes on <br />the southwest corner of the boundary area <br /> <br />Town Plan: The Town Plan designates <br />this area as Institutional/Cemetery and an <br />Agricultural Area. The property is noted in <br />the Town Plan as the Perry Hauge Log <br />Church National Historic District. <br /> <br />Staff: The overlay district prevents the <br />construction of additional building unless <br />approved by the Committee. It also <br />prevents development within 25 feet of the <br />designated boundary area to protect the <br />aesthetics of the property. <br /> <br />Town: Approved with no co"nditions. <br /> <br />Location: AT 1359 COUNTY HIGHWAY Z <br />Rezone Reason: CREATION OF HISTORIC <br />DISTRICT FOR THE NORWEGIAN <br />LUTHERAN CHURCH <br /> <br /> <br />5/11 ZLR: The petition was postponed to allow time for Corporation <br />Counsel to address questions the committee had with regards to actual <br />landowners, the lawsuit regarding the Hauge Church, any ongoing <br />litigation, and an explanation of the meaning of the word ."cataloged" . <br />Staff: See correspondence from Corporation Counsel.
