OlD IE44E R
COPY o
Dear Mr. Bartlett,
RE: 6594 State Highway 73
I recently received a letter from your office outlining a survey permit to be required for the premises
before construction. Please let me offer some background on the project. Heidi and I recently entered
into a land contract with Mrs. Dorothy Walterscheit, which is legally recorded. She and her husband
were the owners of this parcel and house even before I was alive. Upon the signing of the land contract
we decided to do some minor upgrades to the house. We started in the living room of the house. This is
the room which is currently under construction. We had planned to do some minor upgrades. New
drywall, carpet, paint, etc. These were simple cosmetic changes which required no permits. Upon
removing the drywall we found that the roof was damaged beyond repair and would need to be
repaired. We still understood that this was a repair to be fixed without a permit(new subroof, flashing,
barrier, and shingles).Additionally as we moved to the subfloor portion of the building it was
discovered that there were some construction issues that I wanted to correct. At this point we decided
to also put new subflooring down. The decision was then made to go all the way and re-insulate and all.
This was a perfect case of you do not know what you are going to find on an old house until you open up
the walls.Once this was done we were in a mad scramble to fix the situation as soon as possible. I did
not know that there needed to be a zoning permit as we were not changing any layout to the structure.
The room already existed and we were simply rebuilding it.We are changing no set backs, easements or
adding any additional square footage. Everything being done is just a remodel of existing structure.
Do we still need to fill out the information for a zoning application?
Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter.
Best Regards,
RECEIVED
Chad Killerlain
OCT 292014
4 r T Pi q sJ::G& DEV r..,.,..
`trV:..il 1 L.t1.i.1 qiYI.'iYli.ia
