Due to the proximity of your lot to an existing perennial pond, a Dane County
shoreland erosion control permit will be required for any of the following land disturbing
activities:
1. Includes 4,000 square feet or more of disturbed area;
2. Occurs on a slope of greater than 12 percent;
3. Involves the excavation or filling, or combination of both, in excess of 400 cubic yards
of material;
4. Disturbs more than 100 lineal feet of road ditch, grassed waterway or other land area
where surface drainage flows in a defined open channel.
I have enclosed a general informational sheet that explains when a permit is required. Please
evaluate any ongoing or proposed construction projects. If your project meets any of the permit
triggers outlined above you must obtain a permit prior to starting any land disturbing activity. If
you have any questions regarding the permitting process you may contact me at the number,below.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Respectfully,
Jason Tuggle
Erosion Control Specialist
Land Conservation Division
Land& Water Resources Department
(608) 224-3735, tuggle.jason @co.dane.wi.us
Cc: Dane County Zoning (by email)
Town of Windsor (by email)
Lyman F.Anderson Agriculture&Conservation Center
1 Fen Oak Court,Room 208,Madison,Wisconsin 53718-8812-PH:608/224-3730,FAX:608/224-3745
www.countyofdane.com/landeonservation
