IBC 1809.4 - Exterior wall and column footings shall be at least 12 inches below grade and <br /> shall extend below the frost line of the locality. The designer is cautioned that the actual frost <br /> depths for that locality may extend deeper than the footing depths indicated on the submitted <br /> plans. Where applicable, the requirements of Section 1809.5 shall also be satisfied. <br /> IBC 1809.5 - Frost protection. Except where otherwise protected from frost, foundations <br /> and other permanent supports of buildings and structures shall be protected from frost by one <br /> or more of the following methods: <br /> 1. Extending below the frost line of the locality, <br /> 2.
