Additional information for ASN 2015-AGL-9153-OE <br /> AERONAUTICAL STUDY NO. 2015-AGL-9153-OE <br /> MSL-Mean Sea Level IFR - Instrument Flight Rules RWY --runway <br /> AGL-Above Ground Level VFR - Visual Flight Rules nm - nautical mile <br /> MDA- Minimum Descent Altitude <br /> Part 77 -Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 77, Objects Affecting Navigable Airspace <br /> This temporary crane at 227 feet AGL/1088 feet AMSL has been identified as an obstruction under the <br /> standards of Title 14, Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 77, as applied to Dane County Regional-Truax <br /> Field(MSN) in Madison,WI. The temporary crane would be located approximately 9,775 feet(1.60 nm) south <br /> of the existing RWY 36 threshold at the MSN Airport. This crane will be used to construct a new building. <br /> MSN elevation is 886 feet MSL. <br /> Scheduled time of operation: This crane will be on site approximately 14 months. <br /> This temporary crane would exceed these MSN Part 77 protected surfaces: <br /> Section 77.17(a)(2) -A height that is 200 feet AGL, or above the established airport elevation, whichever is <br /> higher, within 3 nautical miles of the established reference point of an airport with its longest runway more <br /> than 3,200 feet in actual length. The temporary crane would exceed 200 feet above the airport elevation within <br /> 3 nautical miles of MSN by 2 feet. <br /> Section 77.19(a)--A horizontal plane 150 feet above established airport elevation, the perimeter of which is <br /> constructed by swinging arcs of a specified radii from the center of each end of the primary surface of each <br /> runway of each airport and connecting the adjacent arcs by lines tangent to those arcs. The temporary crane <br /> would exceed the MSN horizontal surface by 52 feet. <br /> The temporary crane has the following effects on IFR operations at MSN: <br /> Section 77.17(a)(3): A height that increases a minimum instrument flight altitude within a terminal area <br /> (TERPS criteria) the structure would have the following IFR impacts: <br /> ILS or LOC/DME RWY 36, increase S-LOC 36 MDA by 160 feet from 1240 feet MSL to 1400 feet MSL. <br /> VOR RWY 36, "ISMUZ FIX MINIMUMS increase S-36 MDA by 80 feet from 1320 feet MSL to 1400 feet <br /> MSL. <br /> HI-TACAN RWY 36, increase S-36 MDA by 80 feet from 1320 feet MSL to 1400 feet MSL. <br /> RNAV (GPS) RWY 36, increase LNAV MDA by 100 feet from 1300 feet MSL to 1400 feet MSL <br /> METHODS OF NOTIFICATION - It is required that the FAA by notified 3 business days prior to the <br /> temporary structure being erected and again when the structure is removed from the site. Notification should <br /> be made to this office through your registered e-filing account. Notification is necessary so that aeronautical <br /> procedures can be temporarily modified to accommodate the structure. <br /> Page 3 of 6 <br />
