The proposed land division would create four residential lots with
the potential for creating additional lots in the future. This same property owner has a
request into this office for an additional driveway on the south side of Hwy 19 for creating an
additional residential Ix
WisDOT shares the county's concern about the creation of scattered rural residential lots
especially in light of cur joint effort to minimize these types of development along the Hwy
12 Corridor.
In addition to these concerns, WisDOT also has a safety issue concern. In the area of Hwy
19 between CTH K ar d Matz Rd. (see attached map) a total of 22 accidents have occurred
over the period of 19S3 to 1998. Of these 22 accidents, nine accidents involved hitting a
deer. However, of the remaining 13 accidents, nine involved injuries and one resulted in a
fatality. The curvilinear alignment of Hwy 19 through this section most definitely limits the
driver's sight distance and most likely contributes to the high number of accidents for this
short section of Highv'ay.
The proposed new toy'n road that would serve these new lots would be located at a point
where sight distance v'auld at best meet a minimal safe stopping sight distance. Not only
would the residents using the new town road be at a danger but also the school buses that
would need to stop foe. picking up the school kids.
0T14.i l
