When we moved <br /> here in the late 1920's the property next door was <br /> a vacant lot where all the neighborhood children <br /> played. <br /> After my oldest brother, Frank Motelet, married, <br /> he and his wife purchased the property and, with the <br /> help of our father, Charles Motelet, built a two- <br /> story house--a duplex. He, his wife, and their <br /> growing family lived on the first floor and they rented <br /> out the upper floor. There were different renters <br /> over the years, but as their family grew and became <br /> of school age, they decided to move closer to St. <br /> Bernards School. The last family to occupy the <br /> upper floor was Bert Bailey and his then wife, <br /> Marian. <br /> When my brother decided to sell this property, the <br /> Baileys purchased it. They had several children <br /> and needed the rooms on the second floor for bed- <br /> rooms for those children, and no longer rented it <br /> out. <br /> When Joan Bailey told me she wanted to return it to <br /> its original use as a duplex, I was happy because <br /> that is the way it was intended to be used from the <br /> time it was originally built. <br /> If you have any questions or concerns with which I <br /> may be of help, you may contact me at 244-7269. <br /> Sincerely, <br />
