Petition number ?328 came before us at our August
10th plan commission meeting. Due to our being unaware
.5 the conditional use part of the petition--inadequate
• a
legal notice was given for this petition and we tabled
47 + . .A.c_tion„on it until our September 14th meeting.
We did, however, discuss the matter with Mr. Larson.
Mr. Larson told us the conditional use permit would be
needed so that his son could raise steers on the property
(in excess of the one per acre limit) and so that he might
park two semis on the property.
We expressed concern over the mentioned unlimited
livestock potential on these nine acres and also as to
the need for a second semi. We also asked if he would
be interested in screening, with buildings, fencing or
landscaping, both the semi(s) and the steer lot. We also
asked if the steer lot would cause drainage problems,
if the dirt portion of the lot would be used in wet weather,
and how the manure would be managed. Finally, we asked
who was the representative for this proposal.
Mr. Larson told us he was the representative. He
said he would be willing to limit the steers raised
from 30 to a miximum of 50 animals in three different
weight groups.(Roughly at 500, 1 ,000 and 1 ,400 pound groups)
The dirt portion of the feedlot would be only used when
dry and screening of semi(s) and feedlot might be possible
we were also told. He said drainage should not cause
problems and the manure would be applied to the remaining
70 acres of this parcel. He also was unsure as to a need
for a second semi on the property. He expressed a willingness
to be restricted as to the above mattei•. s
4.44:n
G ko,4- -' 7” K of Duh‘—rt( Flav\ cbounL
