These areas are defined as <br /> follows: <br /> SHORELAND: All lands in the unin orporated areas of Dane County which are <br /> within 1,000 feet from the ordina y high water mark of navigable lake , ons <br /> ,� <br /> or flowages listed in the Surfac- Water Resources of Dane County" published <br /> by the Wisconsin Department of Na ural so <br /> the <br /> United States Geological Survey Q adrangle Maps, or <br /> Zoning base maps, and all lands w ich are within 300 feet of the ordinary high <br /> water mark or landward side of a . lood plain of the navigable reaches of <br /> rivers and streams. Rivers and s reams shall be presumed to be navigable if <br /> they are designated as either con inuous or intermittent waterways on the <br /> U.S.G.S. Quadrangle Maps or other zoning base maps which have been <br /> incorporated by reference and made a part of Chapter 11, Dane County Code of <br /> Ordinances. <br /> WETLAND: These areas pertain to all shorelands which are designated as <br /> wetland of 5 acres or more in ar=a on the Wisconsin Wetland Inventory Maps. <br /> FLOOD ZONE: These areas are des gnated on the Federal Emergency Management <br /> Agency Maps for Dane County. <br /> Determination of Shoreland, Wetl: d or Flood Zone areas requires a review of <br /> the pertinent maps on file in the Zoning Office. Please call and check out <br /> your project before you begin. e Zoning office telephone number is (608) <br /> 266-4266. <br /> Zoning permits are required for new drainage ditches, clean-out of existing <br /> ditches, tilling, dredging, fill ng, grading, excavating, cutting of trees or <br /> bushes, etc. , that is proposed i a Shoreland, Wetland or Flood Zone area. A <br /> special Exception Permit or a re•one out of wetland may also be required <br /> before some projects could be allowed.
