King, Jr. Boulevard <br /> Madison, WI 53709 <br /> RE: Proposed Nextel Wireless Communications Facility <br /> in Town of Medina <br /> Dear Eva: <br /> It was a pleasure meeting with you last week to discuss the proposed Nextel wireless <br /> communications facility in the Town of Medina. Nextel is in the process of expanding its <br /> wireless communications network in Wisconsin. As a result of this network expansion, Nextel <br /> is developing sites along the major transportation corridors located in the southeastern portion <br /> of the State, including the I-94 corridor between Milwaukee and Madison. <br /> Nextel seeks a conditional use permit to construct a 199' monopole approximately a ' <br /> mile north of the I-94/HWY 73 interchange at the Robertson's Masonry facility, located at 946 <br /> West Medina Road, in the Town of Medina (please see accompanying plans). This property is <br /> located in the C-2 zoning district. In addition to this monopole, Nextel proposes to install an <br /> 11' x 20' equipment enclosure which will house all the necessary radio equipment associated <br /> with this antenna site. Nextel proposes to place both the monopole and equipment enclosure on <br /> the north side of the existing one-story steel building on the property (see accompanying site <br /> plan). Nextel's proposed lease area is 20' x 50'. <br /> Nextel's proposed monopole will be designed and constructed to accommodate the <br /> antenna of additional wireless providers. This complies with § 10.194 of the Dane County <br /> Zoning Ordinance, which requires that new towers have the structural capacity for the antenna <br /> of additional wireless providers. Nextel has collocation agreements in place with wireless <br /> communications carriers and advocates a policy of collocation whenever technologically feasible. <br /> Nextel has also considered the existing lattice/self-support tower approximately two miles <br /> east of this proposed site.
