COMPOSITE REPORT - Page 2 APPLICATION NO.
STAFF COMMENTS
REGIONAL PLANNING
CUP 1457. This proposed expansion of a dog kennel/training facility is in an agricultural preservation area of the
Town of Sun Prairie.The proposed expansion includes:
- increasing from 55 to 100 dogs;
- addition to the kennel building;
- a training building is to be added;
- a viewing area is to be added;
- a parking area is to be constructed.
This is an existing kennel and training business with single family homes on virtually all of the lots to the east and
the south as shown on the notice map. The most recent addition of an open training area was approved in late
1996.
If these proposed additions are approved,the conditions need to include:
- A specific site plan which shows all existing and proposed construction as well as protection for the tributary
of the Koshkonong Creek.The concern is both for construction and future use of the area.
- If there will be groups or demonstrations which invite groups of people to view training,there may need to be
limits on the number and the hours of such activities.
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH (septic, etc.)
Consideration should be given to the proposed methods of animal waste collection and disposal. Consideration
should also be given to proposed methods of controlling insect or vermin pests and odors that can be associated
with this type of operation. In addition,the existing kennels have been granted a variance to the setback
requirements to the private well. Any addition must meet the 50 foot setback requirement or a new variance must
be obtained.
DANE COUNTY HIGHWAY
C.U.P. 1457. CTH`TT"is a controlled access highway. Parcel has an existing private entrance. No apparent
problems.
OTHER:
LAND CONSEVATION
Really don't see too much of an issue however there are many things we are not aware of:
-What do they mean by"unlimited parking to the west",
-There appears to be channelized flow going thru the property.
-What sort of volumes of both manure and wash water is expected.How do they plan on handling it?
