August 5, 1997 <br /> TO: DANE COUNTY ZONING COMMITTEE <br /> SUBJECT: Background information on creation of parcel <br /> In order to better understand the circumstances surrounding our application to create the <br /> parcel outlined in these application papers, we are submitting the following information. <br /> My brother, Richard Swalheim, and I inherited our family farm about 10 years ago upon the <br /> death of our father. In the ensuing years, we have held the land together as joint owners. <br /> Over the last couple of years, the State of Wisconsin approached us to purchase some of <br /> our property for the expansion of Highway 12&18. We have reached an agreement with - <br /> them and have sold the land to the State that they requested. In this process, the State <br /> engineers for the Highway Department created an approximately 10 acre parcel which is <br /> separated from the main parcel of land by the new highway. We have recently had that <br /> particular section of the land surveyed as a separate parcel (see attached legal description). <br /> It seems an appropriate time (with the road coming through) for my brother and I to divide <br /> up our property for separate ownership. We are in agreement that Richard Swalheim will <br /> own the —10 acre parcel and I will buy him out of his interest in the remaining larger parcel. <br /> This will allow the two of us to have the separate ownership that will make estate and other <br /> planning less complicated for the future. <br /> If you have any more questions or want more details pertaining to this request, please feel <br /> free to contact me or my brother. <br /> Keith H.
