Chapter <br /> 10.72 PERMITTED ZONING DISTRICTS FOR SIGNS. <br /> (1) Unless expressly permitted under this section, a sign is not permitted in a zoning <br /> district. <br /> (19) Subdivision signs are permitted in all zoning districts. <br /> [ History: 10.72 rep. & recr., Sub. 2 to O.A. 6, 1989-90, pub. 09/21/90. ] <br /> 10.73 GENERAL SIGN REGULATIONS. <br /> (1) The regulations contained in this section shall apply to signs in all zoning districts. The <br /> regulations set forth in this section do not supersede the specific requirements set forth in <br /> section 10.74. <br /> (8) The supporting structure or bracing of a sign shall not be counted as a part of sign <br /> copy area unless such structure or bracing is made a part of the sign's message. <br /> (9) The copy area of back to back on-premise ground or pylon signs shall be computed <br /> using the copy area of only one side. The side used shall be the larger of the two sides. <br /> (22) Plantings or structures that exceed 30 inches in height are prohibited beneath ground <br /> and pylon signs. <br /> (23) Sign trim is permitted on all signs and may be installed around the outside of the sign <br /> copy area. The square foot area of the trim shall not be greater than 25% of the permitted <br /> copy area of the sign. <br /> (24) No sign, temporary or otherwise, shall be affixed to a tree or utility pole, fence or <br /> fence pole, or be painted on a stone. <br /> [ History: 10.73 rep., recr., Sub. 2 to, O.A. 6, 1989-90, pub. 09/21/90. ] <br /> 10.74 SPECIFIC REGULATIONS FOR VARIOUS TYPES OF SIGNS. Signs of <br /> various types shall be installed according to the regulations set forth below: <br /> (21)Subdivision signs shall have a maximum size of 64 square feet and be erected to a <br /> height not to exceed 10 feet. Such signs shall be located on the site advertised on the sign, <br /> with no more than one such sign per entrance to the site. <br /> [History: rep. & recr., Sub. 2 to O.A. 6, 1989-90, pub. 009/21/90; (5) am., O.A. 5, 1994- <br /> 95, pub. 09/02/94; (14) am., O.A. 7, 1994-95,pub. 09/02/94 ] <br /> 10.75 CALCULATION OF HEIGHT REGULATIONS. <br /> (5) For ground mounted signs, except billboards, directory or pylon signs, the height shall <br /> be measured from ground level beneath the sign to the top edge of the sign. <br /> [ History: 10.75 rep. & recr., Sub. 2 to O.A. 6, 1989-90, pub. 09/21/90. ] <br /> 10.76 DESIGN REQUIREMENTS. <br /> (1) Illumination of signs must be designed so that the lighting element is shielded from <br /> view from any adjacent residence and from vehicular traffic. Neon and fiber-optic lighting <br /> and electronic signs are exempt from this regulation. <br /> (2) No sign shall use any word, phrase, symbol, shape, form, or character in such manner <br /> as to interfere with moving traffic, including signs which incorporate typical street-type or <br /> traffic control-type sign designs and colors. No sign may be installed at any location where <br /> by reason of its position, wording, illumination, size, shape, or color it may obstruct, <br /> Page 2 <br />
