I thought I should write to
you immediately to express my concerns.
Since your proposal violates the adopted plan(and has already been rejected by the zoning committee), it
is especially important that the committee have full and timely information on which to base its next
recommendation. We must decide if we can exercise flexibility while still carrying out the intent and purposes of
the plan, such as preserving rural character and steep slopes and preventing conflicting uses.
Some of the things I would need to fully review and consider before voting would be:
1) Topographic information to identify sight lines and pre-development slopes of 12% or greater
(from developer or plan department),
2) Location of proposed building envelopes within proposed lots, and
3) Any proposed deed restriction about outdoor lighting.
Once we have this information, I feel the committee could benefit from a simulated view of the hillside
with the proposed homes to evaluate the screening and line-of-sight provisions in your deed restrictions. We
could ask our Land Information Office or the UW Land Information and Computer Graphics facility to provide
us with computer-generated views from Indian Lake and from the western adjacent farm based on the
topography, the proposed building envelopes, and the five-foot conifers every twelve feet.
Thank you again for attempting to address our concerns. I remain strongly committed to the rural
preservation values that are impacted by this proposed development. However, I am certain we can all
cooperate in giving it a full and fair review.
Sinc y, 9/
/J1 '
1r
JA Hendrick
