Dwe County ZNR Committee (continued)
land drainage and road ditching which expanded the watershed area, greater
su ace runoff is reaching the lake. Constructing year round homes and the
a ociated impervious surfaces will exacerbate the high surface runoff problem.
3. Contaminated Surfacewater: A large construction site near the lake has the
potential for causing damaging sediment and phosphorus runoff. Following the
construction phase, impervious surfaces will continue to contribute contaminated
stormwater.
4.1 Contaminated Groundwater. Since the USGS had determined that the prevailing
gr undwater flow is from east to west, septic systems and holding tanks could
th eaten a valuable source of spring flow to the lake.
5. Shoreline Development: Since the primary reason to purchasing lake frontage is
p vate access to the resource, it is likely that the property owners will want piers for
t dockage and shore angling. Extensive piers will Butter the shoreline and destroy
s awning and nursery habitat for fish such as largemouth bass.
Tpf Wells Dane County Executives Office
Brian Standing Dane County Zoning Office
Ron Grasshoff VVDNR SCR Water Reg.
Bruce Moore VVDNR SCR Environmental Engineer
JiM Leverance WDNR Lakes Management
