Box 2986 <br /> Madison, Wisconsin 53701-2986 <br /> Dear Mr. Dryer: <br /> The purpose of this letter is to inform you that a decision has been made regarding the CTH M and <br /> CTH PD Improvement Project. <br /> Alternative # 2 was chosen to be implemented in the 1997 Construction Season (a drawing is <br /> attached). This alternative involves the construction of a raised median on CTH PD to block left turns <br /> to and from Raymond Road instead of relocating the Raymond Road approach 600 feet to the <br /> east.The project will also include a traffic signal and widening each approach to the intersection to <br /> provide turn lanes. <br /> The primary reason for choosing Alternative # 2 is that the concept meets the objective of the project <br /> which is to improve traffic safety and operations at the intersection.The project will improve the <br /> intersection of CTH M and CTH PD so that it can safely handle the expected traffic, and reduce <br /> congestion and back-ups presently caused by the 4-way stop. <br /> This alternative should be considered as a temporary solution until a final decision is made on the <br /> future of Raymond Road and High Point Road. The construction of Alternative #2 does not preclude <br /> the relocation of Raymond Road in the future, if needed. <br /> There was no local support for the relocation of the Raymond Road approach. The City of Madison <br /> supported Alternative #2. The City or Town of Verona did not provide an official response to either <br /> alternative. <br /> If you have any questions or comments, you can either call me at 274-2020 or write to the above <br /> address.
