4282 Twin Valley Road, Middleton WI 53562 Phone: 608-831-5172,
December 10, 1997 2° r
,' cry
7 C
Norbert Schreiber
122 a
Dane County Zoning Commission (7; ' y
City County Bldg. Room 116 7 1 l
Madison WI 53709 =+
rff
Mr. Schreiber,
The purpose of this correspondence is to register our concern about a request before
you to approve the conditional use of a residential property for business purposes. The
property, owned by David and Lori Kane, is located at 4123 Twin Valley Road in the
Town of Middleton.
Both Deric Bownds and myself, co-owners of a residence at 4282 Twin Valley Road, had
previously signed a petition in support of the requested change in zoning. After gathering
additional information from the adjacent property owners and reflecting on our own
experiences with a business adjacent to our home, we feel that the best interests of the
neighborhood would not be served by approval of this request.
Our objection, in part stems from a prior history of unregulated business activity at the site,
a concern about future expansion of the proposed business (as business is prone to do), and
the impact that a business may have on the adjacent property owners. In light of the history
of past activities, a demonstrated lack of sensitivity toward the neighboring residences and
questions regarding the regulation of business activity at this address, we are concerned
about the precedent that this request may set.
It is important to note that our change in position is not a reflection on the individuals
involved, merely a statement aimed at ensuring the quality of life that we all collectively
enjoy on Twin Valley Road.
Sincerely,
LbvLWA/UCkL
Len Walker
Deric Bownds
cc: David and Lori Kane
Ed Tallard, Town of Middleton
