March 4, 1997
To: Dane County Zoning Committee
RE: Zoning change on Kittleson Farm
2074 Hwy. 12 &18, Town of Cottage Grove
Dear Committee Members,
Clayton Kittleson was born on his farm in 1908. He married Lorris and they farmed until
the present; they are my grandparents. My husband and I wish to purchase the
farm, adding the farmland to our present farm operation. We milk and crop land in Medina and
Deerfield Townships. The re-zoning is to facilitate the sale of the excess_buildings.
As shown on the attached Preliminary C.S.M., (Riesop, 3/4/97), we wish to rezone two
parcels:
1. The main house and buildings and approximately 3.4 acres to RH-1.
2. The eastern home and 1.0 acres to R-1A. (this home has been a rental house
for decades and several people, including the tenants, wish to purchase it for their own home).
We will only retain the tobacco shed for equipment storage and to go with the tobacco
base. Please note that only a very nominal amount of the workland is part of the land being
rezoned. The configurations shown are based on existing yards and pastures. The vent shown on
the southeast corner of the tobacco shed is for the main house septic system and will receive a
permanent easement.
The property is being heavily impacted by the Hwy. 12 & 18 reconstruction; the WDOT
has already purchased its new right of way and has designated "restricted access" to the highway
except for two private driveways. The WDOT will build both those private drives wide enough
to allow easy access for our farm machinery; we will retain an access easement to our workland.
If you have need for additional information, please contact Wesley or myself at
608-655-1817.
Sincerely,
Rhondi (Kittleson) Dorshorst and Wesley Dorshorst as agents for Clayton & Lorris
Kittleson
