May 8, 1997 <br /> Dane County Planning and Development <br /> Dane County Zoning and Natural Resources Committee <br /> To Whom It May Concern: <br /> I support the petition of Loraine and William Adkins for a conditional use permit to <br /> use the property at 3847 West Jargo Road as a riding stable for 15 to 20 lessons a <br /> week. The Adkins are trying to go about this in the proper manner while the rest of <br /> us, including the Olson family have done this for years. <br /> I do not believe this will have any negative impact on the neighborhood traffic or <br /> noise. <br /> I drive past the barn every morning and night and have never felt that it causes any <br /> problem with visibility on West Jargo Road. <br /> I understand that this petition was denied without equitable discussion at the Cottage <br /> Grove Town Board meeting on May 5, 1997. I believe that both sides should be given <br /> an equal chance. Perhaps the Olson's are afraid that if this goes through they will not <br /> have unlimited private use of their neighbor's indoor arena, nor be able to turn their <br /> horses out in the neighbor's outdoor arena.... There seems to be a real "conflict of <br /> interests"here as the Olson family has bought, trained, and sold horses for years. <br /> The Olson's have many more horses on their property than the Adkins, and they <br /> have large groups of people over for"ropings". The neighborhood has certainly <br /> tolerated the congestion that they have created. <br /> I would appreciate your fair consideration of this petition. If, in fact, this is going to be <br /> the rule for Adkins,it should in fact, be the rule for the Olsons. <br /> Thank You, <br /> Eleanor Hicks <br /> 3807 W.
