We do not intend to board <br /> horses or rent horses for riding. The current zone is A-1 exclusive and the petition is to be <br /> considered at the May 27 meeting. When Loraine picked up the CUP application at the zoning <br /> division, staff there told her that rezoning should not be needed. <br /> However, the town of Cottage Grove planning committee voted a 60 day postponement of our CUP <br /> at the April 23 meeting to allow us to meet several conditions. One of these was to petition for <br /> rezoning to A-2(4). Loraine dutifully appeared at your service counter, applied for the rezone <br /> (#6915), and paid the $165.00 fee. She then conferred with the Cottage Grove town clerk who, like <br /> your staff, thought rezoning unnecessary. So, Loraine phoned and requested petition#6915 be <br /> stopped. <br /> Last night the Cottage Grove Town Board overturned the planning committee's decision and denied <br /> our CUP petition. Before he could complete his report on our petition the planning committee chair, <br /> Kevin Shelley, was interrupted by a board member motioning for denial which was seconded and <br /> approved. Loraine asked for consideration of the 60 day postponement and was told the board <br /> was choosing to disregard it.- The only opportunity for discussion was given to a couple who have <br /> opposed our petition; then the board moved to the next item on the agenda. <br /> The decision now resides with the County Zoning and Natural Resources Committee. The county <br /> zoning inspector does not consider rezoning necessary. Therefore, we respectfully request: <br /> 1) Rezone Petition #6915 be withdrawn, and <br /> 2) The $165.00 fee be refunded to us. <br /> Thank you for your time and consideration.
