t5\
Town of Westport
Thanks for further clarifying what your plans related to the zoning variance. As I mentioned, it
was unfortunate that I did not realize that the public meeting was a Regional Planning
Commission meeting, rather than a town planning committee meeting. My primary concerns
are:
1) Protecting the existing small wetland south of the existing town building from
further loss (due to additional building or storage of fill materials on the site). While it may be a
small wetland, we have lost much of our wetlands in the Mendota watershed. This both threatens
water quality and increases the runoff potential and increases potential lake rise. To the
maximum degree possible we should be protecting all remaining wetlands.
2) Protecting water quality from run off of salt. Coverage is certainly important. We
should make sure the site is not one that is exe likely to get runoff/flooded and carry salt and
other debris to the lake via land runoff or infiltration.
3) Maintaining the rural landscape as much as possible in the design and layout of
the structure.
I have no objection to the existing uses (except for the piles as they seems to gradually fill in the
wetland) and hope through design you can address my other concerns. Thanks for the
opportunity to express my interest and concerns.
Sincerely
Lynn '-rsson
J Q.e"_
X4- 1— s-1'a,v
