COMPOSITE REPORT - Page 2 APPLICATION NO.
STAFF COMMENTS
REGIONAL PLANNING
Petition 6940—CUP 1435. This proposed dog kennel is on a residential parcel with an existing house
and garage in an agricultural preservation area of the Town of Cross Plains.
The commercial policy addresses ag-related businesses, but then states:
Also small family-owned and operated businesses that provide a service to the community
may be permitted with any restriction deemed necessary by the Town Board.
The kennel use could be rationalized as consistent with this policy depending on compatibility with the
neighbors and any potential traffic conflicts on CTH S—Mineral Point Road.
If the use is approved, it will need conditions such as:
▪ Maximum of 18 dogs
▪ Use of the existing building on site
• Hours of operation(drop-off and pick-up of dogs)to minimize impact on residential
neighbors and impact on commuter traffic on CTH S—Mineral Point Road.
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH (septic, etc.)
Petition 6940. CUP 1435. Consideration should be given tot he proposals for disposal of animal waste
and control of insect pests that can be associated with a boarding operation. •
DANE COUNTY HIGHWAY
Petition 6940 C.U.P. 1435. CTH "S" is a controlled access highways. A change of use
permit will be required from the transportation committee, since this access is presently
approved for residential use. Depending on amount of traffic generated from the new facility,
the access may need to be improved.
OTHER AO
GO'
klu\O— \)jP.'
C\C)°(1-5 ik()sC \i)11-
