• w u
July 15, 1997
TO: Zoning & Natural Resources Committee
RE: Zoning Petition #6946, Samuel & Geneva Braun
from A-1 Exclusive Agricultural to RH-2 Rural Homes
and proposed vertical expansion of second level to
existing hobby shop
Dear Committee Members:
We are Dennis and Donna Laufenberg of 3766 Halvorson Rd . , Stoughton.
Since the public hearing meeting of June 24 , 1997, the Town of Dunn
has recommended the rezoning from A- 1 Exclusive to RH-2. As we stated
previously , we are not against the rezoning, but are very much opposed
to the second level vertical expansion of Mr . Braun 's workshop which
is very visible from our home windows , patio and yard .
Mr . Braun is a self—employed Builder and Remodeler and is using
this workshop as a home base for his business . This is a "gray area"
for the Zoning Department to enforce because it is hard to determine
what is business—related work and what is hobby work, and actually
prove any violation or non—compliance .
Please deny Mr . Braun the vertical expansion of this workshop
and consider the following contingencies on this building if you allow
this expansion:
1) Not to allow any money—making business activity to be conducted
inside this workshop .
2) Not to allow materials or equipment to be stored in this build-
ing which he uses in his business .
3) To have a time limit for being in this workshop no earlier
than 8:00 A.M. or no later than 5:00 P.M. any day of the week.
4) Not to allow any windows facing our home on any
vertical expansion .
5) All windows and doors must be kept closed at all hours of
the day and night to shield noise and lights.
— 1 —
