Gunderman
Director
Dane County Land Regulation & Records
City-County Building, Room 116
210 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.
Madison, WI 53709
Dear Mr. Gunderman: •
Enclosed herewith please find the application of Madison
Country Day School for a conditional use permit at 5959
Martinsville Road in the Town of Springfield. There is now an
existing conditional use permit for this property which reads as
follows:
TO RE-1 : Lighted ball diamond & sale of alcoholic beverages.
TO A-2 : Religious, governmental uses & cemetary.
(See, Conditional Use Permit, dated December 17, 1985, which has
been attached hereto) .
Under the Dane County General Ordinances, the above permit
expressly permits the operation of a church-related school (See,
"religious uses, " § 10 . 01 (51a) ) and other schools (See,
"governmental uses, " § 10 . 01 (23h) ) . Madison Country Day School
believes that it qualifies under the definition of "church-related
school" as that term is used in the Ordinance and has, or intends
to seek such a designation from the Dane County Zoning
Administrator.
By this application, Madison Country Day School seeks to add
the designation of "private school" to the list of currently
allowed uses under the existing permit . No construction is
contemplated at the site, as as the existing school building on the
site is currently suitable for, and has been used continuously as
an elementary school . This is precisely the same use comtemplated
by Madison Country Day School . Thus, what ultimately is being
requested by this application is a technical change in the wording
of the existing permit . No actual change in the exiting, permitted
uses will occur.
122 Lakewood Boulevard •
Madison,Wisconsin 53704 •
Telephone 608 243.1007
email: mcds @binc.net
