Mr. Manthe had had several citations for having a semi-
tractor truck stored in a non-commercial zone. After reviewing the file of material that he and
his wife had collected, it appeared that Mr. Manthe could obtain a change in zoning to a limited
C-2 zone.
Mr. & Mrs. Manthe had a document with a brief explanation of reasons for declining
their application for commercial zoning that they had submitted last year. The reasons for
rejecting their application included a concern that a commercial zone in the middle of
agriculturally zoned properties had the potential to introduce uses that were incompatible with
the surrounding properties. However, the explanation went on to say that if the anticipated uses
of the C-2 zoning in the area were limited to agriculturally related commercial uses, the
application could be granted. Mr. Manthe's anticipated use is for storage of his truck which is
used to haul agricultural produce. He owns a feed and grain truck and services the surrounding
farms.
After considering the foregoing, I dismissed his citations on the condition that Mr.
Manthe re-apply for commercial zoning that would accomodate his truck. Additionally, I
strongly urged Mr. Manthe to be proactive in pursuing the change in zoning by keeping in
contact with the zoning office, knowing when and where committe hearings would be held, so
that he could explain his agriculturally related reasons for commercial zoning and his service of
the surrounding community.
If you need further information with which I can help, please contact me.
Sincerely„_
Rebecca R.
