Village of Deerfield Comprehensive Master Plan
Transportation Plan Map (Map 3). The existing officially mapped southern extension of Kleine
Street south to London Road should be amended since it would pass through an environmental
corridor that includes floodplain, wetlands and woodlands.
4. Meadow Trace should be extended south with an eventual connection with a southern
extension of Jensen Lane. The Meadow Trace-Mockingbird Road intersection should be
redesigned to include a more perpendicular intersection.
5. Meadow Trace should be extended north to liberty Street (Road) to an intersection with the
proposed western extension of West Nelson Street. Cuarry Street should be extended west so
that it intersects with Meadow Trace. Meadow Trace should be planned to function as a north-
south minor collector street which would facilitate traffic flow on the west side of the Village. The
undeveloped portions of Meadow Trace should be officially mapped with a minimum right of way
of 84 feet.
6. Jensen Lane should be extended south to USN 12. This will provide a needed north-south
roadway-on-the west side of the Village growth-area.-
7. Sager Street and Central Avenue should be planned to extend north, where they would
intersect with a proposed new east-west street which would intersect with the west side of STH
73.
The Village should place each of the proposed street improvements that are listed in this section
of the Plan on the Official Map. This recommendation includes officially mapping proposed new
streets and proposals to increase the right-of-way and pavement width of selected existing streets
both within the current Village limits and within its 1 1/2 mile extraterritorial area. Recently,
several land divisions have been approved by the Village even though the proposed lot and street
layout in those plats were in direct conflict with the adopted Village Official Map. These types of
incremental decisions can have serious impacts on the future development of a functional
transportation system in and around the Village in the future, and therefore, should be avoided.
It is very important that the Village fully enforce its Official Map by requiring all new development
within the existing Village limits and within the extraterritorial area to be consistent with the Official
Map.
Vandewalle & Associates 5C1
