PLANNING& D
CERTIFIED MAIL # P 384 918 965
ZONING DIVISION PMENT
RETURN RECEIPT REQUESTED
Dear Mr. Gerlach,
I am in receipt of your letter of 02/29/96. As a result of your letter, I contacted Mr.
Lorenz of the Dane County Zoning Department. Discussion with Mr. Lorenz cleared
up many misunderstandings. While you were dealing with Mr. Lorenz, I was dealing
with the counter people, who perhaps did not understand the situation as well as Mr.
Lorenz, and some of the answers I received were not the same answers you were
getting from Mr. Lorenz.
Mr. Lorenz has requested that I change my zoning to A2(8) with a conditional use
permit for limited family business. This I will do, as soon as possible. I am enclosing
the papers Mr. Lorenz sent to me, and you can see that I must first go to the town
board for review, and then to the county board. If I can get it before the town board
immediately and to the county board by April 2, 1996, the change can be in effect by
June 20, 1996. If I can't get it before the town board immediately, the zoning change
will probably take effect on July 18, 1996. As this is being written, I have a call into
the town board, and am awaiting a return call in an attempt to put it before the town
board this month. If I can't get it before the board this month, it will be before the
board in April.
Your letter of the 29th states "this matter is clarified with either am amended certificate
of compliance or a written statement amending your planned activities to reflect what is
allowed by the current zoning certificate of compliance." Therefore, amend question 9
on my application for licence under 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44, Firearms to read;
Gunsmith activities only until zoning change is completed, with no firearms sales from
property until zoning change completed. Sales may be made at gun shows, while
zoning change is being processed.
I am attending several gun shows in the next few months and may make a sale which is
legal under 18 U.S.C. 923(j) CFR 178.100
