May 2, 1996 Dane County Zoning Department 210 Martin Luther King Junior Blvd. City-County Building Madison, WI 53705 RE: Conditional Use Permit Payne &Dolan, Inc. acting as agent for the owner, Hoffman Farms, Inc.,hereby applies for a conditional use permit for the property described as: Tax Parcel#07-17-402. The legal description of this land is: SW 1/4 NE 1/4 of Section 17, Township 8 North,Range 10 East, Town of Burke, Dane County,Wisconsin. Payne &Dolan,Inc. has been awarded the contract for the bituminous resurfacing of State Project # 1066-02-71 and other State, County, Township and Village work. State Project#1066-02-71 is the paving of I-94 between I.H. 90 and STH 73. Payne& Dolan, Inc. intends to erect a portable plant at this site for the purpose of producing the asphalt mix to be used on these projects. These projects will be completed during the 1996 construction season. The expected start date project is in June 1996. The asphalt plant will operate at the site six to ten weeks. The site is zoned A-1, and is an active commercial quarry. This is a logical site for the asphalt plant, as the aggregates for the asphalt mixture will be produced at the same site. Trucking of the hot- mix products will be from the quarry entrance on Hoepker Road to Hwy 51, then north or south on Hwy 51. This is the same route used by the quarry's trucks. The portable asphalt plant requires no water, and is completely portable. No building of any kind will be erected. We would like the committee to take action on this matter at the June l lth hearing.
