Jan. 6 , 1997
Dane County Zoning Commitee,
The reason I am applying for rezoning of two lots from
Al exclusive to RH2 is to attempt to keep the remaining 270A.
farm intact. The farm is owned by four people all of who have
different interests . I want to farm it and the others want to
develope it. They have agreed to take the proceeds from the
two lots , and a cash offer by me. I would then keep the remaining
farm and farm buildings . This farm used to be in the family
and was a beautiful dairy farm. Mr. Endres the owner, died in
1974. His wife then sold the farm. The new owners tilled the
land from line fence to line fence in 100% corn. Mrs Endres
received the farm back by default. The farm was in bad shape.
I have for the last nine years been gradually repairing buildings
and attempting to reestablish conservation practices for the land.
I have returned the land to strips and put 45A. of the hillest
ground in the CRP. My son is now dairying and I need the land
for hay production. We hope to restore the buildings also for
dairy young stock. The other owners do not want to stick any
money into the farm at all, they simply want real estate prices
to get out. The farm is refinanced in March of this year. I hope
to have worked an afforable deal with the other owners by then.
The alternative is to have each owner take title to his share of
the land. This would allow them to sell most of the farm as 35A.
parcels . I really hope that I 'm not farming around 6 new houses .
The 2 lots I am requesting to be approved are located behind
existing houses in Martinsville. The owners of these houses are
not objecting to the lots .
If approved the other partners in the farm would have them
available to sell. I am requesting RH2 lots so thati.i L'fits in
with the surronding rural area. The soil classification maps show
that the acreage is rated 90Bu. or less of corn. This is a class.
Thankyou for considering this request.
Sincerely,
Donald Hoffman
