4400 Pheasant Hill Dr.
Deerfield, WI 53531-9790 I U NEMEL7i
September 3, 1996 1 I
JkN f
— 61996 l 1
Mr. James Van Duerzen, Chair D.C. PLANNING & DEVELOPtc1V r
Zoning& Natural Resources Committee ZONING DIVISION
Dane County Planning& Development Zoning Division
Room 116 City-County Building
Madison, WI 53709
Dear Mr. Van Duerzen:
I have lived within 1/4 mile of the Deerfield Rod & Gun Club for the last two summers. I
will be directly affected by any decisions reached on rezoning petition 6710, cup 1368.
I am opposed to the proposed change in zoning from A-1 EX to B-1 and RE-1.
I am an avid hunter and fisherman. Though I have no objections to the Rod & Gun Club,
I strongly object to any zoning changes that would "pave the way" to expand shooting
hours and/or alcohol sales to non-Club members. As a profit-making business entity,
which I believe would be allowable with the change to B-1 zoning status, this would
allow the mixing of alcohol sales and firearm usage by the general public. I realize this is
not the Club's stated purpose at this point. However, I feel the rezoning would allow for
this in the future. I vehemently oppose the use of firearms and the sale of alcoholic
beverages in combination.
As a property owner who will be directly affected by the outcome of this zoning petition, I
strongly urge you to reject this proposed change. I am writing this letter because on the
night of the hearing, I will be out of the country, and will be unable to attend and voice my
objections in person.
Sincerely,
%nor/dig
Lonald D. Monfils
