TO: Dane County Board of Supervisors Dane County Land Regulation and Records Town of Deerfield FROM: Deerfield Rod and Gun Club DATE: August 5, 1996 RE: Zoning Change and Conditional Use Permit for Deerfield Rod & Gun Club Property 4372 Rod & Gun Club Rd, Deerfield WI Dear Citizens: The membership of the Deerfield Rod and Gun Club is submitting this application to rezone its property so that it conforms to its existing usage. The club has been in existence since 1960 and the current building was constructed in 1967- 1968. The club also has a Class A liquor license. During the course of its history the club has not only served its membership but also has donated the use of its facilities to such organizations as the Four Lakes Council of the Boy Scouts of America and various law enforcement agencies who use the club's ranges for training purposes. The club was also a pioneer in hunter safety education and conducts at least two courses annually. It has always been the goal of the club to peacefully co-exist with the neighboring residents and the club has enacted guidelines to ensure that such requirements as approved shooting hours be strictly enforced. It is the request of the club to rezone the clubhouse and horseshoe pit as B-1 with a conditional use permit to allow lights for night useage of the horseshoe pits. It is also requested that the remainder of the property be rezoned to RE-1 with a conditional use permit for lights for night usage of the trap and skeet range. The club feels that this change in zoning would properly conform the zoning to the way the property has been utilized for the past 36 years. Thank you for your consideration.
