At the Dec.17th meeting
there was one objection to our proposal voiced by Mr.&Mrs. Phil Eldridge of Blooming
Grove. We met with the Eldridges on Dec.17th immediately after the meeting and would
like to address their concerns in this letter. Because the Eldridges reside in the Town of
Blooming Grove and we have worked through the Town of Cottage Grove, Mrs. Eldridge
has suggested that she has been exlcuded from the process and received little or no information
regarding our request for rezoning. We hope this letter sufficiently explains our intentions and
helps provide enough information to alleviate any concerns regarding our project.
Avant Gardening is a small landscaping company entering it's twelfth year of operation. We
specialize in high quality landscape construction and garden installation, utilizing organic methods
whenever possible. Our plan is to purchase a 36.57 acre parcel of the 140 acre Brandt farm and
rezone 1.57 acres to LC-1 in order to continue the landscaping portion of the business. The
other 35 acres will remain AG-1 Exlusive, some of which will be planted as perennial fields. The
perennials will be grown for wholesale use only and will not be sold on a retail basis.
The Eldridges have expressed three major concerns:
1--That the entire 140 acre farm will eventually be rezoned commercial
2--That there will be a considerable increase in traffic on HWY AB
3--That the business of landscaping will present an unsightly view for neighbors
First, all but one of the 35 acre parcels have been sold and no rezoning is anticipated. The LC-1
zoning Avant requests is"Limited Commercial" and is on a 1.5 acre section more than 1/4 mile
from the Elderidge property.
Second, access to Avant's property will only be available from Siggelkow Rd. The only added
traffic will occur primarily north of Siggelkow on HWY AB to access HWY 12, not south toward
the Elderidge property.
