As you know the owners of the subject property made
application for a rezone approximately ten or eleven months ago to provide zoning
compliance for an existing duplex. The rezone has been basically held in abeyance so as to
ascertain additional information regarding the longevity of the duplex to determine if the
use was grandfathered prior to ordinance adoption by the Town of Madison.
Information has been provided to the department which indicates that the structure in
question may have been used as a duplex prior to 1950. I have requested additional data
from the owner's attorney but because of the long time period involved it has been very
difficult to obtain additonal data. I have discussed this case with Mr. Dave Gault, Dane
County Corporation Counsel, and shown him the materials I am sending you which
provide some indicator that the structure may have been used as a duplex for over fifty
years. Mr. Gault suggested that I send this letter out to you requesting possible
information from the Town that can either substantiate or disproves the information
forwarded to us.
We are attempting to resolve this issue in the very near future so if there is anything that
the town can provide to us it would be appreciated. Your time and consideration in this
matter is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely;
Dane County Zoning
__tea 7
James Gregorius
Zoning Administrator
Post-it®Fax Note 7671 Date z/ o Ipages ' f
To 4 5 From , `v1'
Co./Dept.
