PARK ,'c° 1PW- Dane County Park Commission 44/MISSION June 29 , 1995 TO: Dane County Zoning FROM: Dane County Parks Commission SUBJECT: Rezone of County Parks Land for Public Recreation The Dane County Parks Commission has negotiated the purchase of approximately 57 acres of land in the Town of Verona as an addition to Badger Prairie Park and the Ice Age Junction Area. The proposed use of the property requires that the current zoning be changed. The following information is compiled and submitted to support the rezoning request. Legal Description: Lots 1, 2 , 3 , and 4 of Certified Survey Map #6543 and Lots 1 and 2 of Certified Survey Map #3557 , located in Sections 10 and 11, Township 6 North, Range 8 East, Town of Verona, Dane County Wisconsin. Total Acreage: 57 . 73 acres +/- Tax Parcel No. 31-0608-104-8010-9 , 31-0608-104-8020-7 , 31-0608-104-8040-3 , 31-0608-104-9820-7 , 31-0608-113-9160-5, 31-0608-104-8030-5 . Current Zoning: The land proposed for rezoning is currently zoned RH-3 and A-1 Exclusive. The desired zoning is RE (Recreational) . Reason For Rezone: Dane County is purchasing the land as an addition to the Ice Age Junction Resource Protection Area. Approximately 40 acres of the land will be leased to the Madison Area Youth Soccer Association and will be developed as a recreational soccer complex (see attached proposed site plan) . The remaining land will provide a corridor for the National Ice Age Trail and will be managed by Dane County. Time Frame: The County anticipates taking title to the property in August of 1995. Occupancy of the property is subject to the current agricultural use.
