i ,
COMPOSITE REPORT -Page 2 APPLICATION NO. 6408
STAFF COMMENTS
REGIONAL PLANNING
Petition 6408. This proposed water recreational facility raises a number of water quality concerns that
need to be addressed before proceeding further. The proposal is to build a 14-to 15-acre pond for
personal and rental use.
This site is in both Perry(approximately 40 acres)with access to CTH JG and Primrose
(approximately 140 acres) and is designated as an agricultural preservation area in both plans. Both
plans address preserving farmland and discouraging non-farm development in agricultural preservation
areas.
The intermittent stream that flows through the site from south to north flows into the Primrose Branch
Creek and then to the Sugar River to the east. The lower part of the Primrose Branch is a Class II trout
fishery and any modification to the headwater area by ponding may be of concern.
No site plan has been submitted to show other potential uses.
Any ponding will require a Chapter 30 permit from DNR. There needs to be extensive review of the
hydrologic ramifications before this proposal is considered for approval.
Dane County Highway
No apparent problems. Not a controlled access highway, however, any changes to existing accesses or
new accesses require approval of the area maintenance supervisor.
Other
None.
