FRCIM THE DESK OF
• f::: •f; Spencer J. Artman
::+• ,: 4630 Sandpiper Trail
,-__ Cottage Grove, WI
53527
600-839-5119
8/29/95
To: Dane County Zoning Commission
Re: Rezoning of a 40 acre parcel into two 20 acre parcels
Recently the State bid out a 40 acre parcel of property zoned A-1 which is totally
woods....Oak, Elm and Maple. We placed a bid on the property which was accepted by
the David Ward of the Department of Administration. Our offer was contingent upon
the land perking and the ability to subdivide the land into two 20 acre parcels....HR4.
We felt we could afford $60,000 but our offer of $121,000 would be feasible if we
could divide and rezone. This would allow us to sell the other 20 acre parcel and have
both parcels capable of having a home built on them.
It has always been our dream to build a retirement home in the woods. With
retirement 3-5 years away...we could realize our dream if you were to ratify the
rezoning. It is my intent to keep the woods and the viable ecosystem intact for years to
come. Since none of the property has any agricultural value in terms of crops, I would
hope that you would agree with the necessity to preserve this woodland parcel and
grant our request.
We have begun this rezoning request with the township of Deerfield and with
the County at the same time. Deerfield should make a decision if this fits their land use
proposals by October 2. We will see that their decision is relayed to you previous to
your October 10th meeting.
We should have total approval of our offer from the State Building Commission
by September 13 and by the Joint Finance Committee by October 10.
Sincerely
Spencer and Norma Artman
