OF NATURAL RESOURCES Box
Madison, Wisconsin 53707 3707
George E.Meyer
Secretary
September 20, 1994
Roxanne Seeliger
Deconstruction, Inc.
1201 Bultman Road
Madison, WI 53704
SUBJECT: Waste Reduction and Recycling Demonstration Grant Program
Application #95-1 1
Dear Ms. Seeliger:
The Department of Natural Resources has completed an initial review of your application
for a Waste Reduction and Recycling Demonstration Grant. At this time, we need
additional information or clarification on specific portions of your grant application. The
following required information is broken out into specific categories:
Project Workplan
• How will exempt waste (clean soil, brick, building stone, concrete, reinforced
concrete, broken pavement, and unpainted or untreated wood) be separated from
other materials? The application seems to state that separation will not happen until
after the shredder, when it is impossible to separate.
• If only exempt waste is processed for the land reclamation material, then testing for
chemical/environmental reasons is not necessary. If non-exempt waste (eg. drywall,
painted/treated wood,...) is processed with the exempt material, then extensive
testing is necessary. Based on the floor sketch, there could be a major problem with
non-exempt material being shredded for clean fill. Please provide information on the
type of waste to be processed and testing procedures if necessary.
• Where and how is woodwaste to be stockpiled? Does this include painted and/or
treated wood which is not considered an exempt waste? What will happen to
woodwaste if no market is found?
• Do you have zoning permits for operating the facility? If so please provide copies.
Project Budget
• The addendum has been received and the proposed budget has been revised to
incorporate the changes submitted by the applicant since these changes did not
result in an increase to the grant amount.
!K
R 7dd
