This proposed commercial rezoning appears to conflict with adopted town/county <br /> policies in the Town of Springfield. The C-2 area to the west is the County Highway Garage, <br /> and there is a construction business and school west of Highway 12. The lots along the north <br /> side of STH 19 are all developed with single family homes. <br /> The relevant policy is: <br /> "Only commercial uses clearly related to or compatible with agricultural production should <br /> be permitted to rezone in designated agricultural preservation areas. Also, small family <br /> owned and operated businesses that provide a service to the community may be permitted <br /> with any restriction deemed necessary by the Town Board. " <br /> To zone 6 acres to C-2, the heaviest, most intense commercial district, clearly conflicts with this <br /> policy.
