Y
Lyman Anderson, Chairman
MAY 8 igg5
Dane County Zoning Department
Room 116, City-County Building
Madison, Wi . 53709 C=.t: PLANNING & DEVEI
Dear Mr. Anderson, ZONING DIVISION
I am writing in regard to the notification I received
regarding "Zoning Petition ## 6275" by Richard and Karen Kiemp.
They are petitioning to change 0 .7 acres of Section 30; Town of
Bristol; South of 6855 Bird Street from A-i to C-1 Commercial
Manufacturing Zoning. I am opposed to the proposed zoning
change.
I have been a resident of 2834 Shadow Trail in the Sunset
Ridge subdivision since building a new home there in 1988. In
the past seven years I have witnessed an incredible amount of
development in my area. All of the development North of Egre
Road has been residential single family housing. Several hundred
feet south of the proposed zoning change is the Northwynde
subdivision comprised of large single family dwellings. The area
I live in, directly east of Northwynde is also single family
housing. To change the proposed property from A-i to anything
but R-1 , would be a flagrant case of unsightly spot-zoning. This
represents the worst possible development scenario for this area.
There are currently two "grandfathered" spot-zones on the
corner of Bird Street and Happy Valley Road (B-1 ) and on
Starburst Drive at the entrance to Sunset Ridge (R-3) . These two
spot-zones are exemplary of poor planning in the past (or a total
lack of foresight on the part of the developers and town board) .
I am opposed to any further type of spot-zoning in the Bristol
Township.
I trust that you and the rest of the Zoning Commission will
reject this proposed zoning change and keep commercial properties
in commercial districts in the Bristol Township. In the interest
of future planning, keep commercial properties together in areas
on highways like Hwy. N, away from residential developments where
the commercial traffic will be removed from residential and
agricultural traffic.
Sincerely,
4;,„,..464AL:
Thomas B.
