Part of the area is currently zoned non-conforming and we propose expanding the existing pit to the east approximately 550 feet and to the south approximately 400 feet. Total area to encompass approximately 20 acres. Yahara Materials Inc. , is requesting a ten year time frame for removing the material from the site. The area is currently being used for agricultural purposes and the land would be returned to farm land including the existing pit. Topsoil and overburden would be stripped and piled separately to be used in the restoration of the site. The proposed use would be for the processing and removal of gravel from the site. This would include a crushing and washing operation. If washing would occur, a well would be drilled and settling ponds established on the site so water would be reused and no water would be released from the site. Entrance and exit would be from an existing drive on the property onto Highway 12 & 18. No town roads would be used. The deposit is a glacial outwash of quality material. The material may be removed, the hill lowered and the area restored to blend into the surrounding terrain. Restoration will be a continuing operation as new areas are opened up and will comply with County and Township standards.
