A Z Z
James and Patricia Johnson
66-111A Naoiwi Lane
Haleiwa, HI 96712
808-637-8506
1599` Now
March 9, 1995
1ECEJVEL
Dane County Zoning Department 'ntINP
City-County Building, Room 116
Madison, WI 53709
Attn. : Mr. Lyman Anderson, Chairman
Zoning and Natural Resources Committee
re : Dane County Zoning Petition #6212 by Koua Vang
Thank you for notification of the scheduled public hearing on
March 14, 1995 regarding rezoning an area adjoining our property at
4250 Hwy. TT in the Township of Sun Prairie .
We are opposed to the proposed petition to rezone the existing
'RH-3 ' classification to 'R-1' for the following reasons .
When we purchased the property and built our home in 1979, this
area was chosen because it was zoned 'RH-3 ' and within the limits
of Dane Counties ' environmental corridor (E-Way) ' , assuring minimal
residential development and any accompanying urban sprawl . This
provides a peaceful, quiet atmosphere and open space unique to a
rural, agricultural area.
R-1 rezoning will allow dwelling and population density that will
'open the door' to similar development thereby and negatively
affecting the quality of life unique to our part of the Township.
We also understand that the Vangs 1994 rezoning petition to the
Town of Sun Prairie was disapproved and Township approval is
required before Dane County can give its approval to any rezoning.
This factor alone appears to be enough to disallow the petition. An
exception in this case may create a potentially destructive zoning
precedent that we and our families will have to permanently live
with.
We are not opposed to more people moving to our area, that is
inevitable. We are opposed to the type of unchecked residential
development and population density that an 'R-1' zone
classification will allow.
Thank you for your consideration of our concerns .
11Y?Pid4r142174'.4i
