MAY 241994
DANE COUNT,
LAND REG. &REUADS
May 22 , 1994
Dane County Zoning Department
Room 116 , City-County Building
Madison, WI 53709
Attn: Dane County Zoning Board
RE: Zoning Petition 5948
The reason I am writing this letter to you is because at the
public hearing meeting held on May 17th I felt I did not explain my
reasons adequately. I have been farming this farm for 25 years ,
and before that I farmed it with my father. Being that the field
is small and odd shaped it makes it inefficient to work, and it is
a big problem when spraying chemicals . There have been very few
days this spring when the weather would permit spraying so that the
neighbors wouldn' t get the drift . Small children live in each of
the residences in the immediate area. When I go to work the field
I never know what I will find; cans , bottles, sticks, toys, and the
largest being a 6 cylinder engine. This makes it very difficult
work, and is very hard on my machinery.
To address the problem raised about septic systems , the land
really should have no problem passing the perk test . There are new
systems put in the lots around the property, and with the size of
each lot ranging from . 9 to 3 . 2 acres there should be plenty of
room.
I am a farmer and not a developer. I agree that agriculture
land should not be taken out of production, but this land has
always been difficult to work due to its location, and is in my
mind an exception to the rule.
Thank you for your consideration. If you have any further
questions please contact me at 764-5773 .
Sinc rely,
--Yn c_W-_,.,
0_,_2______
Gordon E.
