At that time I was presented with the regional
planning staff comments. I send along a copy of those staff
comments for your information. I didn't have the opportunity to
review the staff comments in detail and respond to those and I
would like to send in this response at this time for
consideration by the Zoning Committee at its Work/Decision
meeting scheduled for August 23, 1994. The information I have
previously received from the Zoning office indicated that I could
send in this additional information for the committee in writing
prior to that meeting.
The staff comments indicate that the proposed use appears to
conflict with the adopted Town Policies in the Town of Albion.
First of all, as you may already know, we appeared before the
Town of Albion and the Town Board has approved this proposed
rezoning.
The staff comments also indicate that the policy for this
interchange area is apparently to allow commercial development
which will meet the needs of the highway motorist with travel
related services such as automotive services, food, lodging and
other similar or supportive services to benefit the highway
motorist. The comments added that the proposed use for this
rezoning was not a highway oriented service.
To a certain extent I agree with the comment that the sale and
display of homes does. not appear to be a highway motorist related
service. However, . the entire parcel to be considered is
currently zoned C-1. Permitted uses in the C-1 Commercial
District include hardware stores, appliance and furniture stores,
24 N.
