• //7� To the Dane County Zoning& Natural Resources Committee Application for a Conditional Use Permit for Lot 1,CSM 7000 Tax Parcel # 0512-203-8610-6 PROPOSED USE We propose to have built an addition to our existing house suitable for setting up a dependency living space for Margaret's mother, Mrs. Katherine Short, who currently resides at 925 W South St, Stoughton, WI 53589. The addition would consist of bedroom, bath, a kitchen/living/dining area and a loft area (for storage and to provide for occasional guests); these would be Mrs. Short's separate living quarters (see attached plan). In addition there would be a deck(with screen porch), basement, and attached two-car garage. The addition would be connected to the existing house by a sunroom. • TIMETABLE If a permit is granted,work on the addition would begin in August with the replacement of the septic system. We would aim for completion and Mrs.Short's move in November. Since time is of the essence(winter is a particularly hard time for Mrs.Short),we request action on this application at the public hearing on August 9th. We will be requesting approval from the Town of Albion; their action should be taken prior to the August 9th meeting. RATIONALE Mrs. Short is 72. She was widowed in 1989;since then she has alternated between living alone and sharing her home for varying periods with relatives (most recently, we lived with her for 15 months in 1992-93). In 1987 she suffered a long and very intense attack of rheumatoid arthritis;she has since had a hip replacement. Though much of the time she has considerable mobility,she often requires help with her daily needs. Her condition has tended to deteriorate, and is especially critical in winter. While Mrs.Short has a number of relatives in the area between Stoughton and Janesville, we have the most room to provide the space and the mix of privacy and assistance she needs. In addition, our location between Stoughton and Janesville makes maintenance of contact with her children in both cities easier.
