March 4,2015 RECEIVED
Dane County Planning and Zoning
Attn: Hans Hilbert MAR 1 1 2016
210 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd
Madison,WI 53703
Re: Project I.D. 5841-00-00 DANE COUNTY PLANNING&DEVELOPMENT
USH 51 —McFarland
(Yahara River Bridge B-13-0684)
CTH AB
Dane County
Dear Hans,
Dane County is proposing to replace the existing bridge on CTH AB over the Yahara River. We have
received approval of the preliminary structure plans. CTH AB will be closed to traffic during the
construction period. Enclosed are a project location map, the road plan/profile sheets, and the structure
general plan sheet.
The proposed project will reconstruct a 0.08-mile section of CTH AB, currently classified as a C3 urban
collector. The existing facility has an 11 foot asphalt travel lane and 3 foot paved shoulder in each
direction with 2 foot base aggregate shoulders. The existing structure, B-13-0075, is a two span steel
girder concrete deck bridge. It has a clear roadway width of 28.2 feet and a total length of 105.5 feet. The
existing right-of-way is 33 feet east of the centerline, 39 feet west of the centerline. Land use within the
project area is primarily urban. The proposed project will reconstruct CTH AB to provide 11-foot wide
paved travel lanes, 5-foot paved bike lanes, and 1-foot wide base aggregate shoulders. The project will
replace the existing bridge with a two span 28-inch prestressed concrete girder bridge. The structure
overall length will be 121.75 feet. New right-of-way acquisition and temporary easements are
anticipated.
The replacement structure design Highwaterloo will not be changed from the existing structure with an
elevation of 845.65. The proposed elevation of the centerline of the road at the center of the bridge is
approximately 854.88.
This project is scheduled for a March 14, 2017 bid date by WisDOT with construction anticipated to start
summer 2017. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
MSA Professional Services, Inc.
Chad Wagner
Project Engineer
CDW
Enc.
cc: Matt Rice,Dane County Highway Engineer
Mike Banaszak,Local Program Management, KL Engineering
Mike Statz,MSA Professional Services, Inc.
\\manas2\projects\I 1300s\11330s\11331\11331010\Correspondence\Zoning\11331010 zoning.doc
