MUNICIPAL BUILDING (608)849-5626
401 W.SECOND ST. FAX:(608)849-4525
P.O. BOX 100 VILLAGE OF WAUNAKEE
WAUNAKEE, WISCONSIN 53597
July 8, 1993
Lyman F. Anderson
Dane County Zoning Department
Room 116, City County Building
Madison, WI 53709
Dear Mr. Anderson:
I am writing on behalf of the Waunakee Village Board and Plan
Commission and their collective concerns over amending the deed
restrictions in Emerald Grove (Mary Currie) to allow for other
livestock units .
This area is bordered by residential areas on the north and west .
The Village has recently annexed land just south of this area
(Tierney Property) which is intended to be upscale residential
units . While Emerald Grove is zoned largely as a rural area, it
has become an island amongst Waunakee' s residential growth.
Allowing more livestock units will further complicate the issue .
More livestock units are not compatible with the surrounding area
and Masterplan of the Village of Waunakee .
The Tierney Annexation took place due in part to his silage and
quarry operations not being compatible with the encroaching
residential growth of Waunakee . Emerald Grove is situated even
closer to the Village and presents the same type of problems .
Emerald Grove has in the past expressed interest in becoming part
of the Village of Waunakee . Dialogue on that issue will become
quite difficult if livestock units are allowed to co-exist in
residential areas .
The Village appreciates your attention to this matter and hopes
that the future planning and compatible uses of this area are the
basis for your decision making.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
WS/tee./pdaP
Paul E.
