This proposed non-farm house conflicts with adopted policies of the town/county plan in the <br /> Town of Rutland since all of the soils involved are prime farmland or Class I & II by USDA definition. <br /> The adopted policy is: "To limit non-farm residential development to those areas with soils not classified <br /> as prime farmland or those of statewide importance (as shown on the soils map)." <br /> The site is adjacent to the existing farmstead and could be rationalized if the new occupants were involved <br /> in the farming operation.
