\fr,i,
My wife and I faced a similar situation (only wetlands adjoining the road) when we recently
purchased our property (however, our property was already zoned for residential use). We
spoke with DNR Water Resources Staff, reviewed Natural Resources Administrative Code NR.
103, determined that driveway construction would impact the wetland, may not be permitted,
nor would be practical (we estimated 5'-6'deep of gravel fill would be needed to establish a
drive-way bed). We then negotiated a drive-way easement from the seller that was well away
from the wetland.
Kirk and Heidi Eilenfeldt are in a tough situation, and Peggy and I understand and feel for them.
This agricultural property, because of it having only wetland access should never have been sold
on the premise or promise of guaranteed home construction. We don't have all the answers for
their dilemma, only a couple points regarding responsible stewardship of our wetlands.
Res tfully,
i‘
Paul Cunningha
